Tattoo Basics
Before Tattoo
Spend time thinking about what you want! If you want to talk with Lee about your ideas, schedule a 30 min or 1 hour consult. Bring in photo references of tattoos you like, imagery you desire, and consider where on your body you want to add your new tattoo. If you are new, Lee is eager to explain the whole process.
When you are ready with original art or reference photos, you can schedule a tattoo appointment. To schedule, you will pay a $50 deposit that goes to the final cost of your tattoo. You will also have a chance to describe what tattoo you want and to upload all the reference photos you desire.
If you book your tattoo appointment and then you think of more imagery you would like to add to your tattoo, email bluelotustattoo.bakercity@gmail.com with the date of your tattoo as the subject headline. (Subject: MM/DD/YY)
You will also fill out a Consent and Release of Liability Waiver. In this section you will upload a photo of your valid photo ID with proof of age. You will also need to bring the ID to your tattoo appointment. Please, do not drink alcohol 24 hours before your appointment. Do drink water and bring a friend if you’re nervous.
After Tattoo
IF you leave with a tattoo bandaged in Saniderm:
It CAN be worn for 5 days, IF it stays in place and shows no signs of irritation. No swimming, showering is ok.
Take off Saniderm whenever you want within 5 days, it is just an optional bandage.
Saniderm bandage will keep the goo and ink INSIDE the bandage, creating a grey ink sack. This is normal.
Take off the Saniderm if you notice any signs of irritation (redness, bumps) along the edges of the bandage.
Once you remove the Saniderm, start Standard Care.
Standard Care:
Keep it clean & moisturized
Wash, Dry and Moisturize twice a day until the tattoo is fully healed, usually 2-4 weeks.
Wash - Use unscented/ Fragrance Free anti-bacterial soap, no washcloths or loofahs.
Dry - allow area to air dry or pat dry with clean paper towel
Moisturize - Apply a VERY thin layer of clean unscented moisturizer.
The No’s
NO MORE BANDAGES: the tattoo needs to breathe.
NO RODEO: try to protect your tattoo, wear soft, non-shedding clothing that doesn’t rub.
NO SWIMMING: meaning no soaking of any kind, even in your bathtub.
NO SCRATCHING: it may be itchy, do not pick at the tattoo as it scabs. Leave the tattoo alone.
